ABSTRACT:
Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistical tool used to measure a country’s overall achievement in its social and economic dimensions. The social and economic dimensions of a country are based on the health of people, their level of educational attainment and their standard of living. This paper is an attempt to find out the scenario of inter – block disparities in term of human development in Malda District, which is ranked as last in the state human development Report (2004). The methodology is mainly based on UNDP – HDR framework. The result revels that in 2013 three blocks are in Developed category, two blocks are in Medium developed category, ten blocks lies in Less developed category.
